SVETISLAV MARIC: APPLICATIONS OF NUMBER THEORY IN TELECOMMUNICATION SIGNAL DESIGN, 10/20/2017

MATH CLUB PRESENTS
"APPLICATIONS OF NUMBER THEORY IN TELECOMMUNICATION SIGNAL DESIGN"
WITH A SPECIAL GUEST FROM UCSD DR. SVETISLAV MARIC
WHEN: 2PM, Friday, October 20th, 2017
WHERE: MiraCosta College OC3607

Come join Math Club and welcome Dr. Svetislav Maric as he shares with us a swath of knowledge regarding wireless communication Dr. Svetislav Maric got his Ph.D. degree from University of Rochester for his work in Frequency Hop Signal Design for multiuser spread spectrum communications. He worked as a Professor at City College of New York and later at Cambridge University in UK. Svetislav joined Qualcomm in 1999 where he worked on the development of the wireless systems physical layers starting from Globalstar to 3G UMTS Systems and MediaFLO. He joined UCSD Extension in 2016 where he is the Director for their Technology Programs. His main research areas are in applications of Number theory in frequency hopping and wireless systems in general, and he published more than 30 IEEE and IEE papers in this area. Why you should attend: “These informal lectures offer a much more relaxed setting in which students can learn interesting and exciting material, connect with other students of similar interests, and, meet professors they may take in the future while getting a brief glimpse into their lecturing style.”
